I just moved to the Upper West Side and discovered this wonderful sandwich spot and I love the fact that it's a sole proprietorship. Overall, the place reminded me of a similar place growing up in Ridgewood, Queens. Fresh bread, and quality meat and cheese. I think the sandwiches are well portioned. I read some reviews and was a bit surprised about the comments about portion size. This isn't the Carnegie deli The baked goods are also really good; I recommend.

Stepping into Giacamo's made me feel nostalgic for the New York I grew up with. The prices, the atmosphere and the service. Straightforward, earnest and perfect.

I made a rare trip to the UWS, and while there I made a visit to Giacomo's. Giacomo's is a tiny sandwich shop that I would have walked right by if yelp* hadn't help me find it. I ordered a Country ham sandwich, and I grabbed a bench on the sidewalk. The sandwich was very tasty, but a bit small. My bill with a bottle of Iced Tea was $13.68. A bargain for the UWS.

The workers are super nice, the vibe is homey and comforting. The food is delicious! Sandwiches are large and not reasonably priced! The bagel chain across the street is insanely overpriced and not nearly as good.

What is there to say about this place? It's the best. And I say this even though I resent not being allowed to bring my dog in. It's just that good.

Always the best coffee and always a great sandwich with quality ingredients and incredible service. Fresh breads every single day, with a plethora of delicious soups to choose from. Not only are the people working there so funny and cool, but there's always the cutest little furry friends around as well. (Admittedly my favorite part.) 100/10 would recommend to anyone looking for bomb coffee and food.

Classic upper west gem. I love everything about this place. I love the people. I love the food, favs are: lasagna, dill chicken salad, banana bread, iced coffee, granola energy bite. I am not longer nearby but I still go there. It's a sweet spot in every sense of the word.

Giacomo's holds a very special place in my heart. Located next to West End Superette (corner store at W 72nd St and West End Avenue) and within walking distance to the 1,2,3 trains, Giacomo's is the epitome of a great UWS neighborhood spot. In the spring when the morning weather is nice, nothing beats grabbing a coffee and toasted sesame bagel w/ Nova and cream cheese from Giacomo's and reading in Riverside. Grab a Boylan soda and one of their speciality sandwiches for lunch (my favs are the Hand Carved Country Ham w/ Swiss, the Cordon Bleu, and Cubano) and head to Verdi Square to people watch. Highly recommend a number of their soups and chilis when the winter weather rolls in. Stop in and let Joe, Omar and Sylvia take care of you. What else?

Giacomo's has been around longer than I've been alive. They have honed the art of soups and sandwiches, running the gamut of all things served between bread. Today, I was craving a breakfast sandwich so I came in for their frittata, prosciutto, provolone on a roll. For $4.95, this is a delightful offering. The frittata is fluffy and has little veggie bits throughout, making for a flavorful egg foundation. The prosciutto was awesome; I could really taste it in each bite. The melty provolone cheese pulled everything together, both in the flavor profile sense and in the physical structure of the sandwich sense. The sesame studded roll was fresh and I enjoyed the presence of the seed flavor. I am glad I did not opt for bagel. I have also tried Giacomo's beef chili. Delicious and hearty- this is a veryyy thick chili. A favorite amongst locals. Check out the combo deals, such as ordering a sandwich with chili or soup for an additional charge, if you have a bigger appetite or as an efficient way to enjoy both of their specialties. And a final pro tip: Bring cash, there is a small fee for paying with card (if your order is less than $6.50 I believe).

During a recent visit, I indulged in a Country Ham Sandwich paired with a bottle of iced tea—perfectly satisfying and reasonably priced for the Upper West Side. The flavors intertwined beautifully, each bite a testament to the care that goes into crafting the food.
